Well it is time we defended bamboo as about the most ecologically sustainable plant on earth. Bamboo textiles, including Bamboo bedlinen, bamboo childrens pyjamas and cot sheets are made from earth friendly fibres, we invite you our existing or future potential customer to read http://www.bamboo-textiles.co.uk/bamboo-organic-cotton-services.html
What have we done to manage our environmental impact?
Bamboo grows at the rate of almost a metre a day and is completely sustainable without the need for insecticides, chemical fertiliser, irrigation and it yields 50 times the yield of cotton per hectare. It is 100% biodegradable. Highly diluted chemicals (alkalis) are used in processing the pulp when making viscose fibres but the environmental impact is relatively negligible especially now that the producer is using a closed tank system.
Growing bamboo absorbs huge amounts of CO2 and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.
As a company we share our premises and have put solar panels on our roof to generate some of our own electricity usage, it is a 14.5Kwh photo voltaic system and we have already saved 14.7 tons of CO2 from going into the atmosphere. The contractors were Renewable Solutions of Liverpool who did a really superb job so we recommend them. More than that we invite customers of Ethical Community to come to have a look, we persuaded our neighbours Daltons Printers to instal a similar size system and we can easily see their panels from our office.
